BONDScheme Introduction: The BOND scheme is a UK Trade & Investment initiative whereby highquality professionals, selected through the British Council offices overseas,are assigned to UK companies for up to a year. Innovation and Technologydepartment of Grid Automation, GE grid solutions is looking for a number oftemporary researchers and development engineers to work at our company site inStafford, England for a period 1 year. The basic requirements are: · Good Englishlanguage skill · Knowledge andexperience in MATLAB/Simulink and pscad simulations · Power system and automationknowledge The British Council will aid in obtaining a temporary work permit for theperiod of work. Successful candidates will be paid 21000 GBP (gross) per year.We will cover the travel costs to the UK from China. Research students (MSc and PhD) who wish to apply for the position duringtheir degree period should have the permission and support from theirsupervisor and University. Qualified university researchers or even lecturersand professors are also welcome to apply for this Bond Scheme for researchcollaboration. JobDescription: POSITION Bond Researcher, department of Protection Innovation andTechnology, Grid Automation, GE grid solutions, address: Leonards Avenue, Stafford,UK. A GE grid solution is a provider of products and systems toElectrical Power Transmission and Distribution system. The Automation Business isaimed for the market of protection and automatic control systems forgeneration, transmission & distribution systems, as well as for smartgrids. ROLE Reporting to the Innovation &Technology Manager and working alongside dedicated team members in the research and innovation projects on developmentof new protection or control algorithms for distribution/transmission powersystem (including DC system) or smart grid, including algorithm design,modelling construction, C code generation and implementation to the correspondinghardware platforms. They may also be involved in contributing towards patentsand technical papers. EXPERIENCEPREFERRED The candidates will be required to have competency in the followingdisciplines: · Knowledge of powersystem analysis, automation, power system protection or power electronics. · Knowledge ofalgorithms and signal processing techniques. · Good experience inmodelling of power systems and using Matlab/Simulink · Domain knowledge inthe areas of Power Systems Protection, Measurement, Control &Communications engineering.
