This monograph aims at giving an extensive treatment of modeling issues,
0 Z2 u. ]* ~4 j: B3 Tdesign methodologies and implementation aspects, arising when the adaptive
  [! l% {6 n% k0 ^! E, K  |7 tcontrol theory is applied to nodal voltage control in power systems.
7 _9 P' z5 ]2 Z5 Z* I6 N/ x. [2 vThe monograph is structured into six chapters and an appendix. The first
8 A- C0 r! k/ O: ?5 E6 E- ithree chapters introduce the reader to the voltage control problem and the
/ C/ c9 k6 |5 C9 t3 Y# I8 rsubsequent three chapters illustrate different design methodologies. In particular/ q6 u. U+ ?' l7 U! ]! G
the first chapter describes the power system control problem and the
+ M0 G# y, ^0 a& x& y. Yvoltage control structures adopted in transmission, distribution and industrial
2 u% I- |& m0 `electrical systems. The second chapter presents power system models that can
. O, Q, W9 ^! l( ebe usefully employed in voltage control design. The third chapter studies the
! @$ i1 ^  c8 \9 P- zproperties of the Kalman filter used in the estimation of voltage and current4 Y+ {1 x& t) u- J$ M" V5 ]9 |9 I
phasors. The subsequent two chapters deal with the discrete-time design of,
5 F- R" G* `" k7 P8 T; frespectively, self-tuning and model-reference adaptive voltage controllers. The' e8 J' j! i# s+ T# P0 o" g5 D' t
sixth chapter illustrates an adaptive design that is quite different from those
3 t& t2 `+ L" w/ r( S) lpresented in the two previous chapters, being based on an adaptive mechanism
& E3 D, B, m6 Acompensating the power system model nonlinearities. Finally, the appendix' t  w. n& b7 \& j/ s% z7 \
describes the high-voltage transmission system and industrial network used8 y! h& B' Q( _
in the simulations reported in the monograph.- h2 j4 o6 q$ r9 ^( |* ~6 ^
