In the Grid Code:
7 }& ]9 `' W9 E' H(i) a table of contents, a Preface, a Revision section, headings, and the Appendix to this
Glossary and Definitions are inserted for convenience only and shall be ignored in
construing the Grid Code;
(ii) unless the context otherwise requires, all references to a particular paragraph, suBPAragraph,
+ h& [& d& v1 M4 @Appendix or Schedule shall be a reference to that paragraph, subparagraph
Appendix or Schedule in or to that part of the Grid Code in which the
& y9 h/ B! [& w  n& B: Lreference is made;
(iii) unless the context otherwise requires, the singular shall include the plural and vice
- U8 p2 K+ v. I' K% h( G" L- X" sversa, references to any gender shall include all other genders and references to
: G6 k: r# \8 c/ A9 m# Gpersons shall include any individual, body corporate, corporation, joint venture, trust,
4 J  |+ {1 T7 i4 ]( B3 q$ D9 U. U1 k' Munincorporated association, organisation, firm or partnership and any other entity, in
each case whether or not having a separate legal personality;
(iv) references to the words "include" or "including" are to be construed without limitation
+ o9 p" A. e1 f- b+ d7 [- sto the generality of the preceding words;
(v) unless there is something in the subject matter or the context which is inconsistent
therewith, any reference to an Act of Parliament or any Section of or Schedule to, or
, F5 k7 y1 ]! L; c( Vother provision of an Act of Parliament shall be construed at the particular time, as
5 o& p6 v$ y6 c( L; j7 D" cincluding a reference to any modification, extension or re-enactment thereof then in
  D$ a4 F3 ]6 u3 R& i* l' Yforce and to all instruments, orders and regulations then in force and made under or
deriving validity from the relevant Act of Parliament;
7 U7 d2 q' r7 K8 |- m4 ?(vi) where the Glossary and Definitions refers to any word or term which is more
particularly defined in a part of the Grid Code, the definition in that part of the Grid
Code will prevail (unless otherwise stated) over the definition in the Glossary &
Definitions in the event of any inconsistency;
/ k7 |5 t, j8 n4 r0 w(vii) a cross-reference to another document or part of the Grid Code shall not of itself
impose any additional or further or co-existent obligation or confer any additional or
further or co-existent right in the part of the text where such cross-reference is
contained;
(viii) nothing in the Grid Code is intended to or shall derogate from NGET's statutory or
licence obligations;
9 }  }9 V8 ?- M' k! Y3 ~$ Y, _(ix) a "holding company" means, in relation to any person, a holding company of such
' O6 A6 F6 Z, P0 s4 u% J( O( U3 {6 |person within the meaning of section 736, 736A and 736B of the Companies Act
9 e# U1 d: H: U  P1985 as substituted by section 144 of the Companies Act 1989 and, if that latter
section is not in force at the Transfer Date, as if such latter section were in force at
such date;
5 h: A# P9 L$ J5 I(x) a "subsidiary" means, in relation to any person, a subsidiary of such person within the
meaning of section 736, 736A and 736B of the Companies Act 1985 as substituted
by section 144 of the Companies Act 1989 and, if that latter section is not in force at
* s! U6 f& M$ H* {* o" D! qthe Transfer Date, as if such latter section were in force at such date;
(xi) references to time are to London time; and

4 ]1 T5 g# j3 t2 k(xii) (a) Save where (b) below applies, where there is a reference to an item of data
0 z! H/ U4 }& `4 cbeing expressed in a whole number of MW, fractions of a MW below 0.5 shall
  Z3 w4 n- k3 v& Y2 qbe rounded down to the nearest whole MW and fractions of a MW of 0.5 and
above shall be rounded up to the nearest whole MW;
# l2 _; P% C9 x  k  A- m2 @(b) In the case of the definition of Registered Capacity, fractions of a MW below
" F+ E8 k! \8 Q2 ~0.05 shall be rounded down to one decimal place and fractions of a MW of 0.05
