The Bucharest PowerTech Conference continues the tradition of the
PowerTech Conferences organized every two years, with the past editions at
Lausanne, St.Petersburg, Bologna, Porto, Budapest, Stockholm and Athens.
The PowerTech Conference maintains a suitable balance between
contributions from industry and academia and also provides a bridge
between generations. The interest from enthusiastic young practicing
engineers and PhD students wishing to publish their work increased from
event to event.
The most valuable IEEE student work is recompensed with the Basil Papadias
award, which has been also an important ingredient toward the event’s
success.
The event is sponsored by the IEEE Power Engineering Society and will be
organized by University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest, Romanian Power Grid
Company TRANSELECTRICA S.A. and IEEE PES Romania Chapter.
The Technical Program of the conference will feature a broad range of
Technical Paper sessions, Panels and Tutorials covering a comprehensive
repertoire of topics of current interest in the power engineering field.
The Conference welcomes papers on the following main topics:

- Planning and operation of power systems under market conditions

- Renewable energy sources and storage devices
- Integration of distributed generation in the main grids

- Energy efficiency

- Electromagnetic compatibility/Power quality
- Lightning and electromagnetic transients
- Diagnostics and reliability
- Power system insulation
- Power system protection
- Power electronics, including HVDC transmission and FACTS
- Power system instrumentation, measurements and automation
- Power system communication
- Wide area monitoring and control systems
- Artificial intelligence techniques in power systems
- Developing the concept of “smart grids”
Extended abstracts submission:
Extended abstracts of about 2-3 A4 pages are to be submitted
electronically until October 31st, 2008 via the PowerTech 2009 OpenConf
system at http://system.power.pub.ro/openconf/openconf.php
Important dates:
July 30th, 2008 - Extended abstracts submission website opens
October 31st, 2008- Extended abstracts submission website closes
December 1st, 2008 - Notification of acceptance of the extended abstracts
March 1st, 2009 - Deadline for full papers submission
April 6th, 2009 - Final acceptance of full papers
June 28th to July 2nd, 2009 - Conference
